Description
Scripture calls us to bear with one another, teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, help one another when we have a sinful or broken “plank in the eye” of our life, and build one another up.
Our lay counselor training offers individuals the opportunity to gain skills and preparation to support members of our church community who desire guidance, encouragement, assistance, or simply a listening ear. This is a way we can demonstrate incarnational ministry to one another, reflecting Jesus to those needing his healing and mercy.
What is a Lay Counselor? “Lay” means that our counselors are not paid for walking alongside others in the counseling program. Additionally, they are not professional counselors or mental health therapists. Lay counselors are volunteers trained in the use of Scripture in a counseling setting, and they are people who desire to walk alongside others to be used as instruments of life change.
