Description
Four Sundays: January 25; February 1, 8, & 15 • 11am–12:30pm • Upstairs Classroom
Lay Counselors at Park Church are prepared to accept requests to care for those in a time of transition or crisis. Scripture calls us to bear with one another, teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and build one another up. Our Lay Counselor training seeks to equip individuals to that end, preparing us to support members of our church community who request guidance, encouragement, assistance, or simply a listening ear.
During this training, we’ll walk through Biblical concepts of caring for and supporting one another, practice role-playing, and complete readings. After the training, you will meet with someone on the Care and Counseling team to discern if this is a good ministry fit for you before completing the final steps in the Lay Counselor application process.
This training is limited to 16 participants, so we encourage you to sign up soon if interested!
WHAT ARE LAY COUNSELORS?
“Lay” means that our counselors do not work for the church, nor are they paid for walking alongside others in the counseling program. Additionally, they are not professional counselors or mental health therapists. Lay counselors are volunteers trained to use Scripture in a counseling setting, walking alongside others as hopeful instruments of life change.
